Southland Christian Church near Lexington is joining several evangelical megachurches across the country in canceling services for the holiday, which this year falls on a Sunday. Officials at the church, where about 7,000 people worship each week, said the move is designed to allow staff members and volunteers to spend the holiday with their families.

You can’t make this s—— up, folks.

That place gives me the heebie-jeebies anyway. I hate driving by it on my way to Wilmore.

But, WTF??? No service on Christmas morning?

Our church has a history of hiring outside pastors (usually retired former pastors) to perform the Christmas day service. This year I’ll be there–I think it unbelievable to outsource on such a day.

No, no you can’t make it up because then most people wouldn’t believe it. I’m still in shock, but oh well. Maybe a few of those people will look for something more.

  4. Simeon Says:

I heard that partly it was due to the fact that these church fear low attendance. Let’s be real though, at least they have the courteousness not to shame and blame on Christmas Day.
